Definition of "Semiconductor" |
An electrical conductor whose resistance decreases with rising temperature and the presence of impurities, in contrast to normal metallic conductors for which the reverse is true. Semiconductors which may be elements or compounds include germanium, silicon and selenium. / A semiconductor is a material which has electrical conductivity between that of a conductor such as copper and that of an insulator such as glass.
