Definition of "static induction transistor (SIT)" |
a high power, high-frequency device that is essentially a solid-state version of the triode vacuum tube. It is a normally-on device, and a negative gate voltage holds it off. The current ratings of the SIT can be up to 300 A, 1200 V, and the switching frequency can be as high as 100 kHz. |
