Various types of structural members are used
in frame structures. They are : 1. Beam : The member which is subjected to bending is called beam. Beams are usually placed in horizontal position and are loaded with vertical loads. 2. Tie : The member which is subjected to only axial tension is called tie. Strut The member which is subjected to only axial compression is called a strut. 3. Truss : The group of ties and struts so designed and connected that these form a structure which acts as a large beam is called a truss. 4. Rigid frame : The structure which moment resisting joints is called a rigid frame. | |
