Series Generators. The field of application of series generator is limited. These are used for the following purpose

• Series are lighting
• Series incandescent lighting.
• As a series booster for increasing the voltage across the feeder carrying current furnished by some other source&
• Special purposes such as supplying the field current for regenerative braking of D.C. locomotives.
