Characteristics of Moving-Iron Instruments Advantages (i) These are less expensive, robust and simple in construction. (ii) These can be used for both d.c. and a.c. measurements. However, when used with *d.c., they are liable to small errors due to residual magnetism. (Ill) These instruments have high operating torque. (iv) These instruments are reasonably accurate. Disadvantages (i)These instruments have non-linear scales. (ii)These instruments are not as sensitive as the permanent-magnet moving coil instruments. (ill) Errors are introduced due to change in frequency in case of a.c. measurements. | |
