Cycle. One complete set of positive and negative values of an alternating quantity is known as a cycle. Fig. (a) shows one cycle of an alternating voltage.

A cycle can also be defined in terms of angular measure. One cycle corresponds to 360° **electrical or 2n radians. The voltage or current generated in a conductor will span 360° electrical (or complete one cycle) when the conductor moves past successive north and south poles.
