Determination of B/H or Magnetisation Curve The variation of permeability μ (= μ0 μr) with flux density creates a design problem. Permeability must be known in order to find the flux density (B =μ/H) but permeability changes with flux density. This necessitates a graphical approach to magnetic circuit design. We plot B-H curves or magnetisation curves for various magnetic materials. The value of permeability is determined from the B-H curve of the material. The B-H curve can be determined by the following two methods provided the material is in the form of a ring : (i) By means of ballistic galvanometer, (ii) By means of fluxmeter. | |
