Distribution Circuits

In all the above examples the voltage drop in the electrical wires of the connected loads have been neglected. However, in actual practice the loads may be located at distances far away from the voltage source. Under such conditions, the resistance of the wires becomes appreciable. Thus, the voltage drop and the power loss in the wires becomes significant. This happens in the electrical distribution circuits, such as:

• two wire distribution circuits
• three wire distribution circuits.
