h-PARAMETERS

The input voltage and output current are expressed in terms of input current and output voltage in h-parameters. For a two-port network Figure (1), it can be expressed as:

                                   V₁ = Z₁₁I₁ + Z₁₂I_{2                 .................... (1)}

                                      V₁ = h₁₁I₁ + h₁₂V_{2                   ................     ..}(2)

                                        I₂ = h₂₁I₁+h₂₂ V₂              ..............    (3)

Equations (2) and (3) can be written in the matrix form as follows:

where h₁₁, h₁₂, h₂₁, and h₂₂ are known as h-parameters of a two-port network. Mathematically,these parameters are defined as

From Eqs. (5) and (8), h11 and h22 have the dimensions of impedance and admittance,respectively. Equations (6) and (7) show that the h₁₂ and h₂₁ are pure numbers
