Half-wave Rectifier Alternating voltage is applied to primary of the transformer, the filament of the diode is indirectly heated from other supply. So, secondary voltage will be developed. When A is positive w.r.t. B, i.e., during the first positive half cycle, diode becomes forward biased and it allows the first half cycle to pass through the load. When A is negative w.r.t. B, i.e., during the second negative half cycle, diode becomes reverse biased, and it allows the first half cycle to pass through the load. The output is shown in Figure (a).
