KARNAUGH MAP Sum-of-product solution can be easily obtained by Karnaugh map or simply called K-map. To convert Table (a) to its Karnaugh map, the Figure (b) is drawn step by step Table figure (a)
figure (1) Construction of K-map. First Figure 1 (a) is drawn. Now, from Table (a), Y = 1 for A = O and B = 1, i.e., Y = AB so Figure 1 (b) is drawn. Next, Y = 1 for A = 1 and B = 1, i.e, Y = AB so Figure 1 (c) is drawn. Next, Figure 1 (d) is drawn and in Figure 1 (d), O's have been entered in the remaining spaces of Figure 1 (c). Figure (a) gives two-variable K-map To draw three-variable K-map, consider Table (b). Table (b)
Figure (d) shows K-map for three variables corresponding to Table (a).
Figure (d) Three-variable K-nnap. To draw four-variable K-map, consider Table (e). Table (e)
Figure (f) shows K-map for four variables corresponding to Table (e).
