SIGNALS AND SYSTEMS If a function represents a physical quantity or a variable containing the information about the behaviour and nature of the phenomenon, it is known as a signal. Since a function is mathematically represented as a function of an independent variable, it is denoted by x(t). In a R-L circuit, the current through the resistor or the voltage across the inductor is called signal. On the other hand, a device or a set of rules defining the functional relationship between the input and output is known as a system. | |
