Silver-Zinc Batteries

The active material of the positive plate is silver oxide which is pressed into plate and then subjected to heat treatment. The active material for the negative plate is a mixture of zinc oxide and zinc powder and this plate is prepared in the same manner as the positive plate. The charging and discharging of a silver-zinc cell can be represented by the following single reversible equation

For discharge, the equation should be read from left to right and for charge from right to left
