Stator Equivalent Circuit Counter e.m.f.s are generated in all the three phases of stator due to rotating air-gap flux wave. The stator terminal voltage V1 must overcome the counter e.m.f. The counter e.m.f. is -E1 and the stator leakage impedance drop is I1(r1 + jx1). Therefore, the following relation gives the stator primary voltage:
In induction motor, Ie supplies the resultant air-gap flux Φ and no-load losses (Core loss + Friction and windage loss + Small stator and rotor I2R loss). But in transformer, Ie, supplies core loss only. Therefore, Ie cannot be called as no-load current in induction motor like transformer. The product V'1Ie in three-phase induction motor gives the core loss per phase. In equivalent circuit, Ie and IΦ are taken for shunt branch consisting of core-loss branch Rc, in parallel with magnetizing reactance X.
