TRANSFORMER WITH RESISTANCE AND LEAKAGE REACTANCE The primary and secondary windings of a transformer with resistance and reactance is shown in Figure (a). The primary impedance is given by

Here the resistance and leakage reactance in each winding is responsible for some voltage drop in each winding. In primary, there are I_{1}R_{1 }and I_{2}X_{2} drop. Hence ............. (1) Similarly, for secondary winding, we get .............. (2) The complete phasor diagram of the transformer at unit p.f. (resistive load), lagging pf. (inductive load), and leading p.f. (capacitive load) at the secondary are shown in Figure 1 (a), 1(b), and 1(c), respectively
