Advantages
These types of instruments can be used for both DC as well as ac currents.
Since iron is absent in the working parts of the instruments, these instruments are free
from hysteresis and eddy current errors.
Ammeters up to 10 A and voltmeters up to 600 V can be constructed.
Disadvantages
Scale is not uniform.
Torque-weight ratio is small. Friction errors tend to be serious.
These instruments are most expensive than the other types of instruments
